Time:

  7 PM Kyiv
  5 PM London
  12 PM New York
  9 AM San Francisco

Dejan Sarka "Association Rules Step by Step using T-SQL, R, Python, Azure ML, and SSAS"

Market basket analysis with T-SQL, R, Python, Azure ML and SSAS. You will learn how to recognize good products, products which raise the sales of other products, and toxic products, products which are usually sold alone or are the last product in the basket, thus finishing the shopping. Measures like support, confidence and lift, are explained in details. Sequential basket analysis is covered as well. Demos are developed step by step in T-SQL, in order to show how the calculations are made. Then you will see demos also in other languages and on other platforms.

Event Date:   2022-09-14

Catalin Gheorghiu "Introduction to Azure Stream Analytics"

You have SQL skills, where is the place in Azure where these skills can shine? All explained trough samples, more or less IoT oriented, not because Stream Analytics is just for IoT (far from it) jus because is easier to explain and to demo. Everything shown in this session you can try by yourself afterwards, without meddling with electronics, promise 😊. After this session you will know what it is, where to use it and how to use Stream Analytics.

Ricardo Cabral "Power Apps + on-premises data gateway"

PowerApps is a way to quickly create low code applications and use OneDrive, SharePoint, Dataverse as a data source through connectors that are Application Programming Interface (API). The advantage of these connectors is that they allow the use of other data sources such as Microsoft SQL Server on-premises. I will demonstrate how PowerApps can communicate with Microsoft SQL Server on-premises.

Murilo Miranda "Scaling Multiple DBs Sharing Resources with Elastic Pools"

Elasticity and Scale has been a challenge for data processing in relational databases. Some of the problems are: - Increase and decrease processing capacity based on workload - Manage some "hotspots", which may affect a part of the data, for example, a particular client. Traditionally, scenarios like these were resolved by investing in large-scale database servers to support the application, which is not in keeping with the cloud paradigm. Spreading data and processing across identically structured databases (a scaling pattern known as "sharding") offers an alternative to traditional scaling approaches, both in terms of cost and elasticity. In this session we will talk about how Azure can help overcome these challenges, based on Elastic Pools.

Week 3 (2022-09-26    2022-09-30)

Event Date:  2022-09-27

Time:

  7 PM Kyiv
  5 PM London

Melissa Coates "Options for Securely Sharing Power BI Content"

Power BI is an extremely flexible ecosystem which includes several ways you can collaborate and share content with your colleagues. In this session we will review the different ways that content can be shared in the Power BI Service. By the end of this session, you'll have familiarity with: - approaches for collaboration vs. content distribution - when to use an app vs. a workspace vs. individual item sharing - the difference between sharing links & direct access - when to use read vs. build permissions - suggestions and strategies to reduce risk and future maintenance

Chris Webb "Performance tuning Power Query and dataflows"

Whether you are transforming data in the Power Query Editor in Power BI Desktop or using Power BI Dataflows it's important that your Power Query queries run as quickly as possible. In this session you'll learn how to diagnose Power Query performance problems using features like SQL Profiler, Query Diagnostics and Query Plans, and then fix them by optimizing your code, ensuring query folding takes place, increasing the resources available to the Power Query engine and using the Enhanced Compute Engine in Dataflows.

Leila Etaati "Empower Analytics in Power BI using AI"

Using Power BI helps us creating descriptive analysis to analyse what happened in past, however, using AI and ML bring more insight over data to do more descriptive and predictive analysis. In this session, how we able to use AI and ML features such as Charts, Power Query, and writting R or Python code will be presented to get more insight from data.
